How Rotterdam Empties Waste Containers

One of the questions that I have been asking myself and those who are in the industry of sustainability is the following. How do we normarly empty our waste containers in Rotterdam? Working with the municipality, we have a very innovative way of dealing with our waste.

Waste

The municipality regularly empties the waste containers. Many Rotterdam residents use district containers for residual waste, glass, paper and textiles. There are also neighborhoods where residents have household containers (wheelie bins) for residual waste and paper. And usually also for waste from vegetables, fruit, food scraps and from the garden. There are only district containers for glass and textiles. Would you like to know when the municipality will empty your household container?

Sustainability

The employees of Rotterdam sustainability are working very hard day and night to help us create a clean city. The image above is by David Rozing. If the people of Rotterdam would like to know where the nearest local container is or what to do, or when the container is full, there is enough information on the website of the municipality
